Manuscript: “El niño toro”. With title page, 2 sheets text and 4 sheets illustrations. Brush and ink, partly with red wash, on cream-coloured wove. (C. 1953). Each c. 35 : 33,5 cm. In original paper cover with a further drawing by the artist.
Description
Millares, Autodidakt, illustrierte häufig die Arbeiten des Dichters und Schriftstellers Federico Garcia Lorca. Hier aber zeichnet er die Bilder zu seinem eigenen poetischen Text. Er bleibt dabei dem sehr spanischen Thema des Stierkampfs treu. Seine Zeichnungen, die sich auf die Umrisse der Formen konzentrieren, beeindrucken sowohl durch formenmäßige als auch durch farbliche Vereinfachung. Zu diesem klaren Stil wurde er sicherlich auch durch lokale archäologische Funde inspiriert, die ihn faszinierten. Eventuell sollte es noch ein zweites Manuskript geben, da das vorliegende verso auf Spanisch als “Erste Mappe” bezeichnet ist. – Leicht knittrig. Die äußeren Kanten minimal gebräunt. In sehr gutem Zustand.
