Entwurf für ein Wandfresko.
Description
In raschem, flüssigen Duktus ausgeführte Vorzeichnung des Troger-Schülers zu einem Wandfresko der vier Erdteile im Saal des Gartenpavillons von Stift Melk. Dargestellt ist Afrika als am Meeresufer thronender einheimischer Fürst mit einem Diener, im Vordergrund ein auf einem Delfin reitender Putto mit einem Alligator, einem Triton und einer Nereide. Die Ausführung des Freskos auf der Attika über dem Gebälk des Saals erfolgte 1763-64 und unterscheidet sich vom vorliegenden Entwurf. – Leicht fleckig und mit drei horizontalen und mehreren diagonalen Knickfalten. Verso sind ein kleiner Einriss und die Brüche am rechten und linken Rand an vier Stellen mit kleinen Transparentpapier- und festen Papierstreifen hinterlegt.
