Die Friedhofkatze.

Details

The graveyard cat. Brush and India ink and wash on Japan. 1913. C. 40,5 : 52.5 cm. Signed and dated lower right. Framed.
Campendonk’s drawings in Indian ink, executed while the artist lived next to Franz Marc in Sindelsdorf in 1912 and 1913, play a decisive role in the development of his style. In works like the present one he experiments with cubist stylization and with subject matter which he would develop further in his paintings.

Description

Firmenich 409.
