Description
Lebendige antikisierende Szene, entstanden wohl während des langjährigen römischen Aufenthaltes des Künstlers (1775 – 1796). Hier wurde Dies in seinen Anfängen u.a. durch Piranesi gefördert. Zeichnungen wie die vorliegende erfreuten sich bei den Romreisenden großer Beliebtheit. Alt, wohl vom Künstler selbst, auf Bütten montiert und umlaufend recto mit einem Papierstreifen fixiert. Mit vereinzelten Stockfleckchen, sonst sehr gut erhalten.
Provenienz: Sammlung F. Gauermann, verso mit dem Stempel (Lugt 1003); Sammlung Johann Nepomuk Seiler, verso mit dem Stempel (nicht bei Lugt).
