The circumcision, from The life of the Virgin. Woodcut on laid paper with watermark “High Crown” (Meder 20). (About 1504). C. 29.5 : 21 cm (sheet c. 30.5 : 22.5 cm). A very strong and clear Meder b impression with the damage in the upper right corner and before the text edition of 1511.

Bl. 11 aus der Folge: Das Marienleben. Prachtvoller, satter und feinzeichnender Frühdruck vor der Textausgabe von 1511 und allen späteren Ausgaben. Mit der f-förmigen Verletzung in der Eckschattierung oben rechts, die sich im Laufe der Ausgaben erweitert. Mit einem gleichmäßigen, ca. 5 mm breiten Rand um die Einfassungslinie. Verso mit einer leichten Reliefwirkung durch den Druckstock. Rückseitig in den oberen Ecken mit Montage, ansonsten altersgemäß in sehr gutem Zustand.
Provenienz: Aus der Sammlung des Metropolitan Museum of Art New York, verso mit dem Stempel (Lugt 1943); sowie mit dem Duplikatsstempel (Lugt 1808 h).
