Description
In charakteristischer Palette und leicht pastosem Pinsel ausgeführte Darstellung. Die Landschaft ist rasch und flächig auf die Leinwand gesetzt. Signorini war Mitglied der Macchiaioli (ital. “Fleck”), eine in Florenz tätige Gruppe italienischer Maler. Die Künstler opponierten gegen die an den Akademien übliche Manier und entwickelten einen spontan flächenhaften Malstil. Ihr Gedankengut publizierten sie u. a. in den Journalen Gazzetino delle arte disegno (1867) und Giornale artistico (1873/74). Hauptvertreter der Macchiaioli waren neben Signorini G. Abbati, C. Banti, V. Cabianca, N. Costa, G. Fattori und R. Sernesi. Als Vorbilder dienten den Macchiaioli neben anderen G. Courbet und C. Corot. In der oberen rechten Ecke mit einer kleinen Retusche, ansonsten in gutem Zustand.
