Bust of Max Klinger. Bronze with a dark brown patina on original marble base. (1920). Height (without base) c. 51 cm. Inscribed with the monogram and dated on the left lower edge.
Description
Leistner besuchte 1906 nur für wenige Monate die Leipziger Kunstakademie und war sonst Autodidakt. Sein bildhauerisches Werk umfasst vorwiegend Portraits bekannter Persönlichkeiten in Bronze und Marmor, darunter auch Wagner und Beethoven. Mit dem Leipziger Max Klinger verband ihn eine langjährige Freundschaft. In sehr gutem Zustand.
Provenienz: Enkelin des Künstlers.
