At the genesis of art. Coloured pastel on cardboard. C. 24 : 14.5 cm. With the estate stamp on the reverse. Framed. A striking example of the artist’s late pastel style in which areas of strong colour are bordered by geometric lines and their intersections in a way reminiscent of stained glass windows.
Description
Schönes Beispiel für den reifen Pastellstil des Künstlers, der nun flächige Kompositionen in leuchtender Farbigkeit schuf, die an mittelalterliche Glasfenster denken lassen (tatsächlich entwarf Hoelzel im Jahr 1928 Fenster für das Stuttgarter Rathaus). Wie in vielen Pastelle aus dieser Zeit sind hier kleinteilige Formen von Kreisen bzw. Ovalen umschrieben, während den ruhigen Randzonen eine rahmende Funktion zukommt. So ist eine ausgewogene und meditative Komposition entstanden, die durch die klare Farbigkeit trotz des kleinen Formats starke Fernwirkung hat. Verso mit Montageresten, sonst in sehr guter Erhaltung.
