100 Years Gerhard Hoehme „Mediators“ | Special Sale 28 August until 25 September

“I understand my art as an investigation (…)” is how Hoehme described the first decades of his artistic work in 1974. In addition to the recurring motif of coloured synthetic cords, other materials from industrial production are also frequently used in the works from this period. They lead to stunning stylistic inconsistencies and emphasize the experimental character of the work. In the sales exhibition, the “mediator heads” focus on the work of the late 1960s and 1970s.

On the occasion of his 100th birthday, the Dusseldorf branch of Karl & Faber is dedicating itself to the multifaceted oeuvre of the artist, who died in 1989. Gerhard Hoehme took part in documenta II in 1959 and was a professor at the Dusseldorf Academy from 1960 to 1984. The exhibition project takes place in cooperation with Schloss Reuschenberg in Neuss, where an extensive group of works will be shown in parallel.
