Old Masters
Karl & Faber founded its worldwide fame on the auctioning and sale of books and Old Master prints. Particular mention must be made of the bibliophilic treasures from the library of the Augsburg patrician Marcus Fugger (1529 – 1597), auctioned in the years 1933/34, and of the works from the collection of the Princes of Öttingen-Wallerstein sold between 1933 and 1935.
This tradition has continued to this very day. Important prints by such masters as Albrecht Altdorfer, Albrecht Dürer or Rembrandt, gouaches by Georg Dionysios Ehret or drawings by Giovanni Antonio Sogliani, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo or Claude Lorrain have sold very successfully through Karl & Faber over the last few years to a worldwide audience.
